Bookmobile
The Bookmobile is one of many outreach services the library provides to Carroll County residents. Our goal is two-fold, 1) to excite children about books and reading as they develop school readiness skills and become lifelong learners, and 2) to bring library resources to seniors who cannot travel to the library. The bookmobile brings library resources and interactive storytimes to over 900 children in child care centers and afterschool programs every three weeks. The Bookmobile also stops at several senior communities throughout the county, including nursing homes, assisted living homes and retirement communities. To find out if your child care center, afterschool program or senior community is eligible to receive Bookmobile services, contact us via our
Bookmobile Stop Request form. During the summer, in place of the afterschool programs, the Bookmobile goes to parks, day camps, recreation centers, etc.
Day Care Van Service
Day Care Van Service is one of many outreach services the library provides to Carroll County residents. Our goal is two-fold, 1) to encourage reading and the love of books at an early age, and 2) to support school readiness by bringing library resources and storytime training to child care providers and parents. Two day care vans travel the roads Monday through Friday bringing resources to over 800 infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in licensed home-based and community child care centers and preschool classrooms. The vans also serve community-based programs such as Head Start, Learning for Independence, the Pride Program, the Holniker Early Learning Center, Even Start, and Family Learning Together. Library staff offer exciting storytimes incorporating flannelboards, puppets, storycards and other techniques to engage children and adults while providing a wealth of resource material for care givers, parents, and teachers.
