Acceptable Forms of Identification

Under 14 Years of Age

Must have parent or guardian present with ID from the following list.

14 years of age and older - with own ID or with parent furnishing ID

  • Valid driver's license with current address
  • MVA ID card issued to non-drivers
  • Checks imprinted with name and current address
  • Maryland public library card with current name
  • Voter's Registration Card
  • McDaniel College picture ID
  • Springfield State Hospital picture ID
  • School picture ID with name and address

We will also accept picture ID with the following documents showing current address:

  • Utility bill (phone, gas, water) no older than 3 months
  • Settlement contract/lease dated within 3 months
  • Automobile insurance card with name and address
  • MVA car registration
  • Check cashing card with name and address

If you do not have any of the above forms of ID, you can still check out 2 items if you fill out a post card addressed to yourself at your current address, and that we mail to you. Upon receipt in the mail you should return it to the library to activate your library card.
