For kids entering 4th - 6th grades. How do magnets work? What makes electricity? Through exciting experiments, you’ll learn the answers to these questions and more. Work with other children to make a compass and electromagnet, build circuits with batteries and bulbs, and experience the power of static electricity. All children must be pre-registered to attend. A parent or guardian must come in person to fill out and sign the registration form for his/her child. Children must be able to attend all of the classes that week (July 21 - 24). GSK Science in the Summer™ is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and administered by the American Association for the Advancement of Science in partnership with community-based organizations. Back by popular demand, Mirabelle, the loveable Boston Terrier from the Happy Dog Adventure series, will be at your library! Mirabelle and her owner Mr. Muller will read their books, pose for photos, sign autographs, and give you a sneak preview of Mirabelle's upcoming adventures. You won't want to miss the chance to be part of the Adventures of Mirabelle. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Come to the library and read a story to a book-loving dog. Research shows that children enjoy improving their reading skills by practicing the art of reading to animals. Struggling readers are encouraged to participate.
