Join the Mount Airy Branch, the Mount Airy Main Street Association, and local author and blogger Sarah Creviston Lee for a program in the fun and informative History 101 series. In order to conserve vital resources for soldiers and to ensure a fair share for everyone, Americans had to deal with food rationing during WWII. Housewives faced a monumental task to produce nutritious, delicious, and satisfying meals despite restrictions. We will discuss the impact rationing had on society, new methods of cooking introduced to cope, and the types of materials produced to help American women do their bit to win the war. We might even be able to taste samples! Sarah Creviston Lee has been a student of history her entire life. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a certificate in museum studies. Her first novel, a WWII historical fiction entitled The War Between Us, will be published this year. A Celebrating America program. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
