The 2016 GSK Science in the Summer™ program will introduce students to bioscience through interesting activities that include building models of plant and animal cells, using magnifying glasses to examine everyday things up close, and microscopes to look inside the cells of plants and animals. They will learn about bacteria and find out why some bacteria are helpful and others are harmful. A parent or guardian must come in person to fill out and sign the consent form for his/her child on or before July 22, 2016. Children must be able to attend all of the classes that week (July 25 - July 28, 2016). GSK Science in the Summer™ is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and administered by the American Association for the Advancement of Science in partnership with community-based organizations. Only kids need to register.

Belly dancing, which is based on one of the oldest social dances in world history, has become something of a trend in fitness with claims that it will give you a better workout than aerobics, weight lifting, or kickboxing. Local belly dancing teacher and performer Candy Ranlet will give a presentation on the history of the dance, plus she will introduce simple dance steps that newcomers can easily learn.
