Living Off the Grid

Ted and Kathy Carns will share their lifestyle of living totally off grid for 37 years deep in the mountains of western Pennsylvania. Ted and Kathy have achieved a high degree of self-reliance in a very harsh setting using several alternative power sources. In addition, they are known for their practice of zero waste. Ted will discuss his book Off On Our Own: Living Off-Grid in Comfortable Independence in which he details his activities.

Come to the library and read a story to a book-loving dog. Research shows that children enjoy improving their reading skills by practice reading to animals. The dog will have an hour to spend at the library, readers will take turns as time allows. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
