About Summer Reading

Carroll County Public Library is part of the National Collaborative Summer Reading Program which prepares children for continued success through the development of early language skills and integrates differentiated literacy activities to motivate young adults to read and discuss books.

On Your Mark, Get Set…Read! for Kids - Register or Log in here
It’s easy! Record the activities you complete in your Reading Log or online. Earn a ticket for a prize drawing for every one you complete! When you reach your goal of 25, you earn a prize and a chance to win a Toys“R”Us gift card. This summer will be filled with great prizes, free programs, and fun!

On Your Mark, Get Set…Read! for Kids

Events for Kids

For all ages. Join the stars of Mo Willems' Elephant and Piggie series as they act out some of their favorite stories. Children and parents alike will enjoy this lively, interactive show that incorporates music and imaginative play. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

For ages 4 - adults. Summer Reading ambassador Roger Lindsay transports kids 4 to 104 to a realm of magical happenings, illusions, and laughter! Join Mr. Lindsay as he amazes and amuses in this show loaded with audience participation. You never know what surprises await you! Generously supported by Haight Funeral Home and Chapel.

For all ages. Mr. Jon makes music for kids and their families that inspires fun, laughter, and dancing. Join us for a fun family concert with Mr. Jon and his friend George the Monkey. And don't forget your dancing shoes and your tickle bugs too! Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

For all ages. Do you love reptiles? We do too! A naturalist will introduce us to some of these scaly creatures as well as share myths, histories, and benefits of these often misunderstood animals. Presented by the Scales and Tales program of the Maryland Park Service. This program is supported by Mount Garage Doors, Inc. in partnership with CCPL. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

For ages 4 - adults. Free children's safety seminar! Give your child the skills they need to protect themselves from bullies and from strangers. Class provided by Tristar Martial Arts Academy.

For ages 3 - Adult. It’s an AMAZING race!! Rabbit loves to boast how speedy he is. His animal friends try to guess if he can really beat Turtle in the big race. What do you think will happen? Join us at the finish line for this wet and wild summer puppet show! Children age 3 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
