The primary goal is to dedicate quiet time away from the daily chaos to make consistent progress on your novel or children's book. Periodically, per group consensus, some time will be spent brainstorming, critiquing, and sharing knowledge about upcoming events, and the book publishing industry.

Richard Kimball, founder Project Vote Smart, will make a stop in Carroll County to give a 50-minute multimedia presentation focused on voter education. The nonprofit organization stresses voter awareness of advertisements, news stories, and commercials and how to find free, factual, unbiased information on candidates and elected officials. This event is being sponsored by the Carroll County Times.

Based on a story in The Weekly World News, Bat Boy: The Musical is about a fabricated account of a half boy/half bat creature who is discovered in a cave near Hope Falls, West Virginia. For lack of a better solution, the local sheriff brings Bat Boy to the home of the town veterinarian, where he is eventually accepted as a member of the family and taught to act like a normal boy. This performance by the Empower Theater Group highlights some of the songs from the musical.
