Each battlefield has its own perks, hazards, tricks, and traps that will put the quest back in conquest. Bring your own unmodified blasters and ammo. Join author and University of Maryland Lecturer Michelle Markey Butler as she explores historical misinformation and writing. This program will look at misconceptions of the Middle Ages, how to find reliable information when researching for your historical fiction or historical fantasy story, and why such research should include hands-on materials. To truly understand the hands-on aspect, come try on chain mail and Viking clothing, sample medieval food, and try your hand at writing on parchment with a feather quill, among other hands-on medieval activities. Refreshments will be served.
