Join guest lecturer Gary Kavanagh as he examines the history of modern Germany from unification to division to reunification. Find out how the nation blamed for starting two world wars became the largest industrial power in Europe and the leader of the European Union. Gary has hosted several very popular history lectures at the Westminster Branch. He holds a Master’s Degree in Modern European and Diplomatic History from GWU and taught secondary school in Prince George's County, Maryland. All attendees need to register.

There are many decisions to make when you are transitioning on to Medicare. This seminar will cover what the four parts of Medicare (Parts A, B, C, and D) are, Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans, available preventive services, and how to protect yourself from healthcare fraud. We will cover Medicare Savings Programs, which help pay for Medicare beneficiary out of pocket costs. These are not all low-income programs. Presented by the Carroll County State Health Insurance Assistance Program/Senior Medicare Patrol.

Carroll One Book: In Carrie’s Footprints

Please join Jack McBride White, author of In Carrie's Footprints: The Long Walk of Warren Dorsey, and Warren Dorsey, as they share the compelling story of Warren's amazing family and his own slow rise from poverty. Mr. Dorsey, who is 96-years-old, an accomplished singer, and the grandson of a slave, grew up poor in rural Sykesville. Through sheer intelligence and the tremendous power of his will, he eventually overcame war, sickness, and racism to escape his impoverished childhood, and become a successful scientist and eventually a teacher and a school principal. Book sales and book signing will follow the presentation. Jazz music with Eric Byrd 6:30-7:00 PM. Sponsored by the Learning Advantage Partnership. Music portion of the evening is sponsored in part by a Community Arts Development Grant from the Carroll County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council. Refreshments will be served.
