Edgar Allan and the Poe Boys Bluegrass Concert

Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 7:00 PM

Finksburg Branch Library

For ages 3 - Adults

Legend has it, Edgar Allan and the Poe Boys is the first band to ever record music in Baltimore, possibly in America. Lead vocalist Edgar Allan actually invented the modern five-string banjo to ward off birds who kept gently rapping at his chamber door. Between poems, he would often find himself plucking away at his instrument and eventually developed a three-finger picking style that was pirated years later by bluegrass banjo players, including Earl Scruggs. Do yourself a favor and come see this legendary band. All attendees need to register. This program is sponsored in part by a Community Arts Development Grant from the Carroll County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council.
