For ages 12 - Adults
Solving sudoku puzzles is easier than it looks, and all but the hardest puzzles can be solved using just a few techniques as presented by Dr. Kenneth Shook. You don’t need any math and you don’t need to guess. The only thing you have to know is what digits 1-9 look like. Sudoku is popular because you need to know so little to enjoy it! Attend one or both events to get up to speed on these fun puzzles.

The Union Army enlisted over 200,000 colored soldiers in their ranks starting in early 1863. Those soldiers fought in 449 battles and in the minds of many, helped shorten and win the war with the Union. Over 68,000 of those men died in the war. Another 2,500 languished in Confederate prisons. This program is offered in conjunction with the Civil War 150 exhibit. Civil War 150 is a national traveling panel exhibition organized by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History in partnership with The Library of America. The project, Civil War 150: Exploring the War and Its Meaning through the Words of Those Who Lived It, has been made possible in part through a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Exploring the human endeavor. A Celebrating America program.
