Please join Jack McBride White, author of In Carrie's Footprints: The Long Walk of Warren Dorsey, and Warren Dorsey, as they share the compelling story of Warren's amazing family and his own slow rise from poverty. Mr. Dorsey, who is 97 years old, an accomplished singer, and the grandson of a slave, grew up poor in rural Sykesville. Through sheer intelligence and the tremendous power of his will, he eventually overcame war, sickness, and racism to escape his impoverished childhood, and become a successful scientist, teacher, and a school principal. Book sales and book signing will follow the presentation. Music by Liberty High School Jazz Ensemble. Sponsored by the Learning Advantage Partnership and the Carroll One Book Initiative. Refreshments will be served.
