Did you know that there is a science to making butter? Come listen to stories, sing songs, and learn how to make a liquid turn into a solid when we make butter from scratch. Children age 3 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Refreshments will be served. Only kids need to register.

For kids entering 2nd and 3rd grade. Put on your safety goggles and explore the exciting world of chemistry! Observe physical and chemical changes. Make crystals and watch raisins and popcorn dance. All children must be pre-registered to attend Science in the Summer classes. A parent or guardian must come in person to fill out and sign the registration form for his/her child. Forms will be available on 6/16/2014; completed documentation is due by 6/30/2014. Children must be able to attend all of the classes offered that week (July 21-24). GSK Science in the SummerTM is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and administered by the American Association for the Advancement of Science in partnership with community-based organizations. Only kids need to register.

4-H STEM: Learning By Doing

Participants will have the opportunity to work through the engineering process as they design, build, and test their own mechanical creations! Hands-on activities will encourage participants to try new ideas and observe the results of their work. This program is presented by a representative of the MD 4-H program.

Wear your PJs and bring your favorite stuffed animal for this bedtime-themed party! We’ll have fun with cool crafts, a bedtime snack, and great bedtime stories. You will also have a chance to leave your furry friend in the library for an animals-only sleepover—come back in the morning to see what your stuffed friend did all night! Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Only kids need to register.
