Take Action for Animals: Animal Control Officers in Carroll County

Join Officer Angela Derr from the Humane Society of Carroll County & Animal Control Division for an interactive presentation, including a weather-pending vehicle and equipment tour, about the ins and outs of animal rescue. You'll learn what animal control officers do for you and Carroll County's animals and later stick around to create recycled toys for homeless animals in need. Teens requiring service learning hours can earn up to 2 hours for this program.

PAWS to Read

Come to the library to visit with or read to a book-loving therapy animal. Research shows that reading to animals boosts reading skills in children and helps with social skills and emotional health for all ages. Adults and seniors can also come to de-stress and relax with a fuzzy friend. Registration is optional; walk-ins are welcome!

Branch history
Library service to the Finksburg area began on January 28, 2009 with the opening of the 13,805 square foot branch. The Finksburg Planning and Citizens' Council played an integral role in helping the Finksburg Branch become a reality. This library was the first Green building in Carroll County. Some of the green features include: geothermal wells, a storm water management system, and recyclable and recycled materials.
