Join us for an exciting lecture from retired National Park Service park ranger, historian, and cultural resource specialist Winona Peterson. All landscapes have stories to tell, even the ones we interact with daily. This program will present compelling layers of history found at selected historic national park sites within an easy drive of Carroll County. We will explore the importance of nationally significant landscapes and the complexities of managing resources that have more than one significant story to share with the visiting public. The discussion will focus on how the National Park Service studies and manages these cultural landscapes. We will be learning about Hampton National Historic Site, Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, Gettysburg National Military Park, and Eisenhower National Historic Site.

This program is part of the Carroll 250 Speaker Series celebrating the United States Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the 1776 United States Declaration of Independence.

The 2008 renovation to the branch included a 5,000 square foot expansion and interior improvements.
